Most people you meet on VivahLok are exactly who they say they are. These habits protect you from the few who are not.
Before you share personal details
- Talk on VivahLok first. Use chat and calls on the site until you are comfortable. Moving to WhatsApp or a personal number too early makes it harder to report someone who misbehaves.
- Prefer verified profiles. Look for the verified badge, which means the member has submitted a government ID and a matching selfie that our team has checked.
- Keep sensitive documents private. Never send anyone your Aadhaar number, PAN, bank details, passwords or OTPs. If you must share an Aadhaar card, use the masked version that hides the first 8 digits.
- Verify independently. Confirm workplace, education and family details through your own contacts before any formal meeting.
Never send money
No genuine match will ask you for money, for any reason: a medical emergency, a customs fee for a gift, a visa, an investment opportunity or help with a business. A request for money is the clearest sign of fraud. Stop contacting the person and report the profile.
Meeting in person
- Meet in a busy public place for the first few meetings, and involve your family early.
- Tell a family member or friend where you are going, who you are meeting and when you expect to be back.
- Arrange your own transport, and do not go to a private residence or hotel on a first meeting.
Warning signs
- Avoids video calls or meeting in person, or keeps postponing.
- Professes strong feelings very quickly, or pushes for marriage or commitment unusually fast.
- Claims to live or work abroad and cannot meet, especially in the military, on an oil rig or at sea.
- Story changes, or photos look like a model or stock image.
- Asks you to keep the relationship secret from your family.
Report and block
If anything feels wrong, report the profile from the profile page. Reports go to our team, who review the account and remove it if needed. You can also add anyone to your ignore list so they can no longer contact you. If you have been threatened or defrauded, also report it to the police or at cybercrime.gov.in (helpline 1930).
